The Legend of Hippothous

Hippothous was the son of the Pelasgian Lethus and led the Pelasgian contingent from Larisa to fight as allies of Troy.‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‍ The Pelasgians were among the oldest peoples of the region, and their support added to the international character of Troy's alliance. Hippothous fought prominently during the battle over the body of Patroclus after Hector had killed him. He tied a strap around Patroclus's ankle and began dragging the corpse away from the fighting, hoping to strip the valuable armour. However, Ajax the Greater spotted him and drove his great spear through Hippothous's helmet and into his skull. The Pelasgian leader fell dead across the body he had been trying to claim, far from his homeland of Larisa.
