Archelochus
Trojan commander and son of Antenor who co-led the Dardanian forces at Troy
The Legend of Archelochus
Archelochus was a son of the Trojan elder Antenor and brother of Acamas. Together with his brother and the great Aeneas, he commanded the Dardanian contingent that fought alongside the Trojans. Homer lists him in the Trojan catalogue of allies as one of the three leaders of the Dardanians. He was a capable warrior who fought in the thick of the battles around Troy. Archelochus was eventually killed by Ajax the Greater during the fierce fighting, struck down by a spear blow. His death was mourned by his father Antenor, who lost several sons during the long war. He represents the heavy toll the conflict took on Troy's noble families.
