Eurypylos
Son of Telephus and leader of the Mysians who came late to Troy's defence and was killed by Neoptolemus
The Legend of Eurypylos
Eurypylos was the son of Telephus and Astyoche, a sister of King Priam. His father Telephus had been wounded by Achilles years before the war and had refused to fight, but Priam bribed Astyoche with a golden vine to send her son. Eurypylos arrived at Troy with a large Mysian force late in the war, after the deaths of Hector and many other champions. He proved to be a formidable warrior, killing many Greeks and nearly turning the tide of the conflict. For a time he was the most dangerous fighter on the Trojan side. However, Neoptolemus, the young son of Achilles, arrived at the same time on the Greek side. The two young warriors clashed and Neoptolemus killed Eurypylos in single combat, mirroring his father's conflict with Telephus.
