God of the north wind

Boreas was the god of the cold north wind, bringer of winter.

The Myth

Boreas dwelt in Thrace. He abducted the Athenian princess Orithyia and fathered the winged Argonauts Zetes and Calais. When the Persian fleet was wrecked at Artemisium in 480 BC, Athens credited Boreas and built him a temple.

Fun Fact
