Jason

The hero who assembled the Argonauts and sailed to Colchis in quest of the Golden Fleece.‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍ Jason's story is one of ambition, adventure, and tragic betrayal.

The Legend of Jason

Rightful heir to the throne of Iolcus, Jason was raised by the centaur Chiron on Mount Pelion after his uncle Pelias seized power.‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‍ When Jason returned, Pelias sent him to fetch the Golden Fleece from Colchis. Hera and Athena supported his quest; he assembled the Argonauts — including Heracles, Orpheus, the Dioscuri, and Atalanta — and sailed aboard the Argo. In Colchis, Medea, granddaughter of Helios, fell in love with him through Aphrodite's meddling and used sorcery to help him tame fire-breathing bulls and defeat the dragon. They married, but Jason later abandoned her at Corinth. Medea's revenge was catastrophic, and Jason died alone.
