🗡 heroἌσιος

Trojan ally from Arisbe who insisted on fighting from his chariot against Greek fortifications‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌

The Legend of Asius

Asius was the son of Hyrtacus and a leader of forces from the town of Arisbe on the Hellespont.‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌ He brought his troops and war chariot to fight alongside the Trojans. When Hector ordered an assault on the Greek wall, most commanders dismounted to attack on foot, but Asius stubbornly refused to leave his chariot. He drove straight at the Greek gates defended by the Lapith warriors Polypoetes and Leonteus. Despite his furious assault, the Lapiths held firm and Asius could not break through. He raged against Zeus for allowing the Greeks to resist. Later in the fighting Asius was killed by Idomeneus, who drove a spear through his throat as he fought near the ships.
