The Legend of Antiphus

Antiphus was the son of Thessalus, who was himself a son of Heracles, giving Antiphus distinguished divine ancestry.‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌ Together with his brother Pheidippos, he commanded the contingent from the islands of Cos, Crapathus, Casos, and Nisyros, bringing thirty ships to Troy. These island warriors were accomplished seafarers and fighters. Antiphus and Pheidippos represented the far-flung reach of the Greek alliance, coming from islands in the southeastern Aegean near the coast of Asia Minor. Their grandfather Heracles had himself sacked an earlier Troy and raided Cos, so the brothers were following in a family tradition of warfare in the region. Antiphus fought through the siege, carrying on the martial legacy that descended from Heracles through his father Thessalus.
