The Legend of Imbrios

Imbrios was a warrior from the island of Imbros who married Medesicaste, an illegitimate daughter of King Priam.‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌ Before the war he lived on Imbros, but when the Greek fleet arrived he came to Troy and fought among the foremost Trojan warriors. Priam honoured him as he honoured his own sons. During the battle near the Greek ships, Imbrios was killed by Teucer, who struck him with his spear behind the ear. He fell like an ash tree felled on a mountain top, a famous Homeric simile. After his death, the two Ajaxes stripped his armour, and Ajax the Lesser severed his head and hurled it like a ball so that it rolled through the dust and came to rest at Hector's feet, a grim act of battlefield savagery.
