The Meaning of God of the Sky

Zeus was the youngest son of Kronos and Rhea.‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‍ When Kronos swallowed each newborn child to prevent a prophecy that his own son would overthrow him, Rhea hid Zeus in a cave on Crete and gave Kronos a stone wrapped in swaddling clothes. Raised by nymphs and fed on goat's milk and honey, Zeus grew to manhood and forced his father to regurgitate his five siblings. He then led the Olympians in a ten-year war against the Titans, winning with the aid of the Cyclopes, who forged his thunderbolts, and the Hundred-Handed Ones. After victory, Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades drew lots for dominion. Zeus received the sky and became supreme ruler, establishing his court on Mount Olympus and governing gods and mortals through a combination of authority, persuasion, and occasional thunderbolts.
