The Legend of Dolon

Dolon was an unremarkable Trojan warrior, the only son of Eumedes, a wealthy herald.‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‌‌ When Hector called for a volunteer to spy on the Greek camp, Dolon stepped forward, bargaining for Achilles' horses and chariot as his reward. He disguised himself in a wolf skin and crept toward the Greek lines. Unfortunately, Odysseus and Diomedes had set out on their own night mission and intercepted him. Terrified, Dolon revealed every detail of the Trojan positions, including the location of the newly arrived Thracian king Rhesus and his magnificent horses. Despite his cooperation, Diomedes beheaded him.
