The Legend of Chromis

Chromis was a leader of the Mysians, a people from the region south of the Propontis who came to fight as allies of Troy.‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‌ He is listed in the Trojan catalogue of allies in Homer's Iliad, where his contingent is described among the many nations that answered Priam's call for aid. Chromis led his Mysian warriors across the Hellespont to join the defence of Troy, fighting alongside the Trojans and their other allies from across Asia Minor. The Mysians were a warlike people with a long martial tradition. Chromis commanded them with skill during the battles, but like many allied commanders he fell in the fighting. His presence in the Iliad reflects the truly international scope of the conflict.
