The Legend of Chromios

Chromios was a Trojan warrior who appears in Homer's Iliad among the defenders of Troy.‍‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌ The name Chromios, related to the Greek word for colour or complexion, was borne by several figures in the mythology of the Trojan War on both sides. The most notable Trojan Chromios fought alongside Hector and the other champions during the assaults on the Greek camp. He was among those who rallied to defend the Trojan positions during the fierce back-and-forth battles across the plain. Chromios was eventually killed in the fighting, one of many named warriors whose deaths Homer catalogues to convey the staggering losses both sides endured. His inclusion in the epic preserves his memory across the millennia.
