The Legend of Pandarus

Pandarus was a skilled Lycian archer who fought on the Trojan side during the great war.‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‌‍‍ Athena, disguised as Laodocus, persuaded him to shoot an arrow at Menelaus during a sworn truce, shattering the peace. His arrow struck Menelaus but the wound was not fatal. Later Pandarus joined Aeneas in battle against Diomedes, hurling his spear but missing. Diomedes then cast his own spear through Pandarus's face, killing him instantly. His treacherous arrow shot was one of the pivotal moments that prolonged the war.
