The Legend of Menelaus

King of Sparta, brother of Agamemnon, and husband of Helen, Menelaus won Helen's hand through the suitors' oath that Odysseus devised.‌‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‍ When Paris, favoured by Aphrodite, took Helen to Troy, Menelaus called on every oath-bound king. He and Agamemnon assembled the greatest armada Greece had known, sailing from Aulis after Artemis demanded Iphigenia's sacrifice. At Troy, Menelaus fought Paris in single combat — Aphrodite snatched Paris away. After ten years, Troy fell. Menelaus meant to kill Helen but dropped his sword at the sight of her. They returned to Sparta, where Zeus granted him Elysium after death.
