The Legend of Othryoneus

Othryoneus came from the town of Cabesos to join the Trojan war effort, drawn not by prior alliance but by ambition and desire.‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍ He asked King Priam for the hand of his daughter Cassandra in marriage, promising as his bride-price that he would drive the Greek army from Troy. Priam agreed to the match, and Othryoneus fought eagerly to fulfil his bold promise. However, during the battle near the Greek ships, Idomeneus of Crete confronted him and mockingly offered to arrange a marriage to Agamemnon's daughter if he would switch sides. Before Othryoneus could respond, Idomeneus hurled his spear and killed him. His body was dragged through the dust as Idomeneus taunted his unfulfilled marriage bargain.
