Trojan Royal Family
The ruling dynasty of Troy descended from Dardanus through Tros, Ilus, and Laomedon to Priam and his fifty sons
The Meaning of Trojan Royal Family
The Trojan Royal Family traces its origin to Dardanus, a son of Zeus who migrated to the Troad and founded the city of Dardania. His descendant Tros gave his name to both Troy and the Trojan people, and Tros's son Ilus founded the city of Ilium, building it where a cow lay down as directed by an oracle. Laomedon, son of Ilus, built the great walls of Troy with the help of Apollo and Poseidon, then refused to pay them, earning divine enmity. His son Priam rebuilt Troy into a magnificent city and fathered fifty sons and many daughters, including Hector, Paris, Cassandra, and Helenus. Paris's abduction of Helen brought the Greek coalition against Troy. The war destroyed the dynasty almost entirely, though Aeneas, a prince of the cadet Dardanian branch, survived to found a new lineage in Italy according to Roman tradition.
