Coeus

🏔 titanΚοῖος
Titan of intellect

Coeus was the Titan of rational intelligence and the celestial axis — grandfather of Apollo and Arte‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍mis through his daughter Leto.

The Myth of Coeus

Coeus, one of the twelve Titans born to Gaia and Ouranos, embodied the axis of celestial knowledge.‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍ With his consort Phoebe he fathered Leto and Asteria — Leto who bore Apollo and Artemis, Asteria who became the island Delos. Coeus thus stood as grandfather to two of the greatest Olympians. In the Titanomachy he fought alongside Kronos against Zeus and the younger gods. After their defeat, Coeus was imprisoned in Tartarus with his brothers Crius and Iapetus. Some traditions say he once attempted to escape Tartarus but was driven back by Cerberus and the power of Styx.
