Koios

🏔 titanΚοῖος
intellect, the celestial axis, questioning

A Titan of intellect and the northern celestial axis, father of Leto and Asteria by Phoebe.‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍

The Myth of Koios

Koios was one of the twelve original Titans, son of Gaia and Uranus.‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‌‍ His name is associated with questioning, intelligence, and the celestial pole — the axis around which the heavens appeared to revolve. He was paired with the Titaness Phoebe and together they produced Leto and Asteria. After the Titanomachy, Koios was imprisoned in Tartarus. In some Orphic fragments, he is associated with the north celestial pole, making him a cosmic anchor of the night sky. His intellectual domain connected to Phoebe's oracular power: where she presided over the light of prophecy, he supplied the rational faculty that formed questions worthy of prophetic answers.
