The Legend of Iphiclus

Iphiclus was the son of Phylacus and Clymene, and a hero from the city of Phylace in Thessaly.‍‌‌‌‍‌‌‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‌‌‌‍‌‍‌ He was renowned throughout Greece for his incredible speed, said to be so swift that he could run across a field of grain without bending the stalks, and over the surface of the sea without wetting his feet. Iphiclus owned a famous herd of cattle that the seer Melampus attempted to steal on behalf of his brother Bias. Melampus was captured and imprisoned for a year before eventually winning the cattle through his prophetic gifts. Iphiclus sailed with the Argonauts, contributing his legendary speed to the expedition. He was also the half-brother of the better-known Protesilaus, who would later be the first Greek to die at Troy by leaping from the ships.
