The Legend of Helenos

Helenos is the Greek transliteration of the name more commonly rendered as Helenus in English.‌‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‍‌ He was a son of King Priam and Queen Hecuba, and the twin brother of the prophetess Cassandra. Both twins received the gift of prophecy, though through different traditions. Helenos served as both a warrior and advisor during the defence of Troy, using his prophetic abilities to guide Trojan strategy. He advised Hector to challenge the best Greek warrior to single combat, leading to the famous duel with Ajax. After falling out with the Trojans over the awarding of Helen following Paris's death, Helenos withdrew and was captured by the Greeks. He revealed the prophecies necessary for Troy's fall and survived the war.
