Goddess of Wisdom

💭 conceptΘεά τῆς Σοφίας
Wisdom, strategy, crafts, warfare

Athena embodies strategic intelligence, skilled craftsmanship, and disciplined warfare, standing as ‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍protector of civilized life.

The Meaning of Goddess of Wisdom

Zeus swallowed the Titaness Metis when a prophecy warned that her children would surpass him.‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‍‌‍‌‍‍‍‌‌‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‌‌‌‌‍‌‍‍ Soon after, he suffered a splitting headache so terrible he ordered Hephaestus to cleave his skull with an axe. From the wound Athena sprang forth fully grown and clad in gleaming armour, shouting a war cry that shook the heavens. She became Zeus's favourite child and the only god he trusted with his thunderbolt and aegis. Athena competed with Poseidon for patronage of Athens: she planted the first olive tree on the Acropolis while he produced a salt spring, and the citizens chose her gift of lasting sustenance over his. She guided heroes including Odysseus, Perseus, and Heracles, always favouring intelligence and skill over brute force.
